Uma enquete da América Online com 600 "bloggers" revela que, para mais da metade dos interrogados, a atividade tem um efeito terapêutico.
E assim, segundo a enquete, a maioria dos "bloggers" busca um respiro em seu diário mais do que comentar sobre assuntos políticos ou trabalhar como jornalistas amadores.
Os "blogs" substituem o psicólogo em 31% dos casos: um terço dos entrevistados disseram que em momentos de grande ansiedade escrevem em seus "blogs" ou lêem os de outras pessoas que enfrentam dificuldades semelhantes ao invés de buscar ajuda profissional.
Um terço dos indagados disse que escreve freqüentemente sobre assuntos como a auto-estima e a auto-ajuda, enquanto que 16% disseram escrever um diário on-line porque está interessado no jornalismo.
12% disseram escrever um "blog" para acompanhar as notícias e os mexericos, enquanto que outros 8% manifestaram interesse pela informação política.
"Os blogs servem como uma história oral", disse Bill Schreiner, vice-presidente AOL Community.
Para Schreiner, os "bloggers" não têm pressão para escrever sobre nenhum assunto em particular, nem competem com outros.
O Google lançou na quinta-feira uma ferramenta para buscar especificamente em "blogs", o que pode aumentar ainda mais a visibilidade dos milhões de diários online que existem na rede.
